Why we keep this close to home
We are open to many solutions. Local production is the exception. Keeping our Merino crewneck and cardigan near Barcelona lets us follow every step, speak with the people who knit them, and solve issues early. We are not perfect. We improve season after season and we share both progress and limits.
The yarn we chose and why
We work with the IMAGINE line from E. Miroglio and Raumer. It is an extrafine Merino family offered in classic counts like Nm 2/30, 2/36 and 2/48, designed for flat knitting around gauge 12 to 14. The shade cards include a melange range that gives quiet depth and natural variation, which reads richer on the finished knit than a flat solid. We match count and gauge to the fit we want, then swatch and wash to lock real measurements before we move to a pilot run.
Knitting and finishing at SOMPUNT
Our knitwear is made with SOMPUNT, a cooperative factory in L’Espluga Calba in the province of Lleida. They have been knitting since 1969 and run a complete process under one roof, from knitting to linking, washing, finishing and packing. Their machine park includes Shima and Protti flat knitting lines across a wide range of gauges. Proximity to Barcelona keeps feedback loops short and quality checks frequent.
How a Pamuuc knit comes to life
Swatch and test. We set tension, rib structures and collars on small panels, then wash and measure again to capture real behaviour. Counts like 2/30 at gauges around 12 to 14 give a clean face and stable drape when finished with care.
Pilot run. We knit a small batch of crewnecks and cardigans. We check on table and on body, adjust sleeve head and shoulder line, and fine tune ribs so collars sit clean and hems hold shape.
Production and QC. SOMPUNT runs production in controlled lots. Linking, washing and finishing stay on site. Lots are checked for stitch stability, pilling resistance and size consistency before packing.
What the yarn means for you
Comfort. Extrafine Merino is breathable, thermoregulating and naturally manages moisture. It feels smooth on skin without the scratchiness of coarser grades.
Shape and longevity. Carefully spun Merino with the right finish keeps a neat silhouette with less pilling over time. IMAGINE includes shrink resistant options, some without chlorine, which helps long term stability with proper care.
Aesthetic. The melange colour card builds depth in the knit that works with everyday outfits and ages well.
Certifications and chemical safety
Our supplier operates OEKO TEX Standard 100 certified yarn units and aligns with EU chemical rules. When a line is marked non mulesed we reflect that on the product page. We do not claim standards that are not in place for a given batch.
Impact, with clear limits
Most climate impact in clothing sits in fibre and fabric stages. Transport is usually a smaller share for road or sea, but it spikes when goods travel by air. Keeping our chain regional reduces flights and shortens the back and forth of sampling and remakes, which lowers waste. We plan lead times so we can stay on lower impact routes.
Care that keeps shape and size
Wash cold or at 30°C on a wool setting with a mild wool detergent. Skip bleach and softener. Dry flat on a clean towel and store folded. Avoid the tumble dryer and do not wring. Spot clean gently with a damp cloth when you can. Follow these steps and your knit should not shrink in a way you notice. Small tolerances exist, and we measure them in testing before we ship.
What we are improving next
We are building a clearer view of energy use at the factory, including heat for washing and drying. We are expanding yarn level traceability on IMAGINE lots and reviewing chlorine free options across the full colour card. We are also testing lighter packaging that stays fully recyclable while protecting knits in transit. When a change works in practice we switch and share the update.
